♡ Welcome to Quokka Travel, I am are very happy you are here! Quokka.travel is a personal blog about travelling the world. We share travel stories to inspire others to chase their travel dreams and embrace adventure.

My taste for travelling started back in 2007 when I visited Costa Rica. I loved hiking in the jungle and photographing animals. In the past 10 years, I lived in London, France and visited over 30 countries. I believe we should never stop exploring the beauty that the world has to offer. I love short breaks and city trips in Europe as well as adventurous escapes to worldwide destinations. In 2016 I travelled on the Trans-Siberian Railway and in 2017 I plan to visit Namibia and Botswana for my first wildlife experience.

Freedom and getting to know other countries, cities, food, nature and animals are the main drivers for my travel passion. I have seen so many beautiful things on my trips and met the most lovely people. I wanted to capture my experiences and digitise my travel adventures. That is how quokka.travel was born. I would like this travel blog to be humorous – we love sarcasm – informative and inspiring.

Quokka Travel is based in Amsterdam. We hope you enjoy reading our articles, feel free to share your ideas and questions with us. We are happy to help.

Hi there,
The Indefinable red beans on your picture from the Sasak Village Sade on Lombok are husked Tamarind fruits. They are commonly used in Asian food for their sour taste, specially in sauces. But you can also eat them raw as a sweet and sour fruit.
Cheers,

Thanks Gaspard! I’m glad we now have identified those beans we saw on Lombok: https://quokka.travel/2013/10/01/fruits-veggies-and-spices-in-indonesia/red_brown_beans_lombok/
